News Update    Comet Simulator

Peter Kay has done some amazing work on the simulator’s seats – they have been completely re-built and recovered in gorgeous red leather, and are now awaiting refitting.

However before that, Peter has taken down the headlining for repair. He found it was soaking wet and on removal found nearly 30 holes on the roof of the simulator. Very odd – we can only think that when Farnborough sent it to us all those years ago, they thought it would be housed inside and did not bother to block up all these rivet holes – some dozen or so were over ¼” in diameter – goodness knows how much water must have come in over the years. When the lining is refitted and the seats, then a plastic barrier will be fitted to allow visitors to view this valuable exhibit.
