Expansion plan final approval
The Museum’s expansion plans cleared the final hurdle on August 18th with the granting of planning permission by Hertsmere Council for the change of use of the pony grazing fields adjoining the site to that of aircraft storage. The lease for the fields is being finalised preparatory to signing. It has also been confirmed by the council that the pre-conditions attached to previously granted planning consent for a large new hangar have been satisfied, and work is planned to start in December of this year. The Museum submitted on August 10th the full application to the Heritage Lottery Fund for £1.5 million to fund the project, although the appeal launched earlier this year is continuing as it cannot be certain that the application will be approved.
